Transformers isn’t a new thing. They’d been around since the 1980s. They’d had games come out in Japan. They’d had games come out on computers in America. But somewhere this is the first console game they got over here. Why? This makes no sense?

Josh Garvey from the internet (ooooooh) comes by the show to take a look at Beast Wars Transmetals and to help catch me up on Transformers things since watching the cartoons is pretty much all I’ve ever done with them.Continue Reading

This is what the rest of the Capcom fighters focusing on Marvel characters was all leading to. One of the greatest fighting games ever made. The reason to own a Dreamcast. The epic mashup of two legendary companies that has no reason to exist in this world but does anyway.

Listen in as Trent Seely from Continuity Nod comes to talk about what is possibly one of the best games every made. Period. End of discussion.Continue Reading

Does anyone else think it’s weird that I got an American guest last time to look at Judge Dredd, a British comic that’s clearly riffing on American ideals? I kind of think it was, even though I wasn’t thinking about that at all the first time around.

Listen in as real life British person Andrew Young from 4 Panel comes on the show to give us a more nuanced perspective on where Judge Dredd comes from and what makes it something worth exploring today.Continue Reading

Spawn is still cool. There’s no denying that at all. And he hit at the perfect time. But what happens when you get this character who has literally emerged from the depths of Hell into the scariest environment known to man: early PS1 3D gaming?

Listen in as Andrew Reiner from Game Informer and the new show The Spectacular Comic Book Podcast comes on the show to help take a look at Spawn the Eternal for the PS1. The game exists, and that’s all I’m going to say about that.Continue Reading

You know what’s always fun? Dinosaurs. Seriously, who doesn’t like dinosaurs? Crazy people, that’s who. So if you can get dinosaurs and aliens and giant guns and it all actually makes sense? How cool is that?

Listen in as Billy who sometimes writes for Commander Cast comes to talk about Turok 2 Seeds of Evil. And cool guns. And the fun of having a comic property published across about a gazillion different publishers.Continue Reading

Aliens. It’s not just a meme, it’s an entire government cover up spanning years and years of extra terrestrial interactions and communications. Or it’s a giant load of crap. I don’t know, I’m not a fancy science guy with a fancy security clearance.

That’s where Chris and Cody from Believer Skeptic Podcast come in. Listen in as these two experts (or at least much more of an expert then I am) in the paranormal come on the show to talk about Men in Black, and a bit about men in black.Continue Reading

Spencer Scott Holmes from Old Man Orange comes by the show to talk about his comic Pizza Boyz. Hear about the inspiration behind it and a bit about his process. And if I hadn’t been an idiot you could have heard it before the Kickstarter campaign was over. That one’s totally my fault.

Good news though, there’s always Pizza Boyz on Comixology so you can still read it if it’s something that you’d be into. And since you’re listening to this podcast I’m pretty sure it’s something you’d be into. Continue Reading

A common ghost story I hear is that the spirit can’t pass on because of unfinished business. Which is insane because we all have that, but we’ll roll with it. Imagine if instead you came back in a corporeal form to get revenge on the people who had done you wrong. Oh yeah, and you’re basically immortal until the job is done?

Justin Williams from SuperTangent comes by to look at that exact situation in The Crow City of Angels. And no, you didn’t miss an episode for the first movie tie in game since they never made one of those.Continue Reading

I know, one of the problems with the show is that the handheld versions of games exist. And that if there’s a console version I tend to just ignore the hand held ones because, let’s face it, are they ever better than the console version anyway? Especially with a series like Turok that’s built around being a first person shooter on a screen that can show really good colors that’s also bigger than 2 square inches. That’s like 5 square centimeters for all of my listeners not in the US.
Blair Farrell from Comic Gamers Assemble is here to help me see if my thought process even has any merit to it as we take a look at 5 different Turok handheld ports and see how they actually play without having to worry about those pesky home console games that always hog the spotlight.Continue Reading

Spawn was an interesting character for me growing up, and I’ll bet I’m not the only one.  I could recognize him no problem. I’m pretty sure I knew that he was a comic character. But I couldn’t have told you anything about him besides things that you could guess from his appearance.

Listen in as Adam Higgins from Odd Dad Out comes to reminisce about a childhood idea of Spawn and the hilarity of having an E rated Spawn game.Continue Reading

Alright, so we’ve looked at a lot of Batman. Like a lot. So let’s take a look at future Batman. Except not Bruce because it’s the future and Bruce is old and tired, you know, all the other things that old people are.

Listen in as Dan and Jake McMahon from DC Supersons come on the show to talk about Batman Beyond, the future of super heroing, and fuzzy good boys.Continue Reading

The 1990s were a fun time in comics. A lot of the indie comics from the 80s had either run their course or were brought into one of the major publishers. But the indies still existed, and Scud the Disposable Assassin was one of those that came out.

Listen in as Brandon Cruz from Interdimensional RSS comes to talk about how a comic that not a lot of us have probably heard of have lead to (what he and tons of other people have told me) what is one of the best animated things in existence. Continue Reading

Oh, you thought that we were done with Dragon Ball related stuff did you? Or that the manga ending meant that the anime would end too. Well jokes on you because there’s a whole different anime series that was only inspired by the manga and of course we got a game to go with that too. Like it or not.

Listen in as Eli Sirota from The Not So Crazy Podcast of Blizzard the Wizard and Eli comes by to look at Dragon Ball GT Final Bout and give us another dose of why the Dragon Ball franchise is so well loved by its fans. When it does things right anyway.Continue Reading

Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z were the introduction to anime for a ton of people my age. So imagine how cool it must have been to finally have a game of it? And a fighter at that! What could possibly go wrong?

Listen in as Luke Herr from Multiversal Q, Exiled, and RPG Pals Club comes on the show to talk about the first Dragon Ball Z game made that came out in North America, but not the first one that came out in North America. Don’t worry the craziness is just getting started.Continue Reading

The Marvel cinematic universe might have only existed since 2008, but that doesn’t mean there weren’t Marvel movies before. And I’m not talking about that quack of a Howard the Duck movie either.

Listen in as TJ Johnson from Voice from the Underground and Lakers Fast Break comes to talk about the awesomeness of Blade, being a fractional vampire, and the joys of early 3D gaming.Continue Reading

Imagine a world with dinosaur and man existing together except there’s also modern weaponry and plasma rifles and, well, if you’re not convinced now that it’s awesome I’m not sure what’s wrong with you. Also it’s not the Savage Land.

Listen in as Patrick Hickey Jr from Review Fix comes by to talk Turok Dinosaur Hunter and really delves into some of the production behind this classic N64 shooter.Continue Reading
