As one of the most compassionate characters in comics Wonder Woman is going to try to save everyone. But what happens when the person she decides needs saving is a literal bringing of destruction and threatens the lives of everyone else?Continue Reading

Scouting has always been a little weird to me. Even as a kid, I wondered what exactly all of this preparedness was going to be for. As a child of the suburbs, I wasn’t entirely convinced I would ever need to know how to tie a thousand types of knots or navigate through the woods with only my knowledge of woodcraft. Besides, all the made up words and loyalty rules seemed a little, you know, cult-y to me even at the time.Continue Reading

I come into Barbaric with a few things in mind:

Vault Comics is on top of their stuff and if I could easily pull it off I’d have the shop just get me all of their #1 issues
I love fantasy based stuff
The ax’s mouth is dripping blood, so we can assume it doesn’t ask for a well done steak. I’m guessing mid rare at the mostContinue Reading

I know I should judge a book by it’s cover. Especially a comic because there are at least 37 different covers and I can only get so many of them. But it’s so hard with Hollow Heart because this cover is so enticing. Why is there a dude staring at me? What is the dude staring at me from? How do the eyes go all shiny like that?

All of that aside, I’m loving what I’m seeing in this first issue.Continue Reading

One part a look at social media and it’s effect on our lives, one part horror comic, one part great story telling, and one part great art. Plus it’s from Aftershock so you know it’s good. The entire team here is bringing down the hammer with this one.Continue Reading

I picked up this comic to review because I had never heard of this hero before. There is a reason for that. This character is primarily found in older TV series in Japan. However, let me tell you Marvel has done a great job at creating a fast paced story with the character borrowed from Tsuburaya Productions. The essence of this comic is big monster fights which I am a huge fan of. Though there is a new twist on the big monster fights. The reader gets a protagonist to follow and root for in these fights.Continue Reading

There are so many ways to experience the world that is the Dune universe.  Your experience could be from the 1965 novel by Frank Herbert or its five sequels, the 1984 movie based off the novel directed by David Lynch, Dune the Graphic Novel, or you could choose this 12 part series published by BOOM! Studios.  I know  the big experience I am looking forward to is the Dune movie coming out in 2021 that is directed by Denis Villeneuve which could have been the deciding factor in picking up this comic.Continue Reading

Words: Alex Paknadel Art: John Lê Colors: Roshan Kurichiyanil Letters: Aditya Bidikar Publisher: Vault Let’s get one thing out of the way real quick. If you haven’t read Giga #1 yet then you need to go do that. This isn’t a horrible place to start but it’s a lot better to start at the beginning.Continue Reading

I realize with this one that I’m a sucker for finding creators on Twitter and reading their stuff because of our interactions over there. I’m a simple guy, if someone asks people to read their thing then I’ll probably read it. I guess this doesn’t really have anything to do with anything except that I feel like part of me writing these reviews is letting you know why I read something.

So Rich Douek sent me over a copy, I read it, I loved it. It became the first thing that someone working at my local comic shop recommended to me. Let’s just say it was a good move all around.Continue Reading

Freaks & Gods is a wonderful throwback to the style of the 1970s comics. Easy to just grab an issue and jump in, but Easter eggs for those who read the series. Great characters, both new and continuations from the public domain. It’s just a ton of fun and you can’t go wrong jumping into the series.Continue Reading

All my life I’ve heard only 2 opinions of Scott Summers/Cyclops. Either people loved or hated him. Now thanks to this comic from the minds and talent of Jay Edidin (in his comic writing debut no less), Tom Reilly, Chris O’Halloran, and Tom Orzechowski I think I have no choice but to decide which camp I belong in.Continue Reading
